First round, failure to eject.
Second round, failure to eject.
Failure to eject.
I'm starting to suspect a bad extractor or something like that.
So, the UPS man came today. Delivered me an extractor.
Okay, out here. Brand new extractor on our PT709 Slim.
And, uh, you know; we were having extraction issues so I replaced the extractor.
And so we're going to give it its first shot with the new extractor.
We're going to be shooting Federal Champions, which I have confidence will run through just fine because those were the rounds we had the least problems with.
But, we're about to find out, aren't we?
And there we go! So far so good. We'll keep going.
Magazine number two of the Federal Champions.
Clean! Let's keep going.
Third magazine, PT709 Slim, of the Federal Champions.
Okay. That's a failure to feed. I think that's my fault. But let's get that taken care of.
Okay, three rounds left.
And uh, the slide just failed to lock open that time, but we did go through all the rounds clean except for the one failure to feed
which I'm going to go ahead and take the blame for.
Magazine number four of the Federal Champions. After this we'll switch to another brand, uh, Winchester white box.
I've heard from more than a couple of people who said that they had extraction issues specifically with Winchester white box with this model of firearm. So we'll try that next.
And then... So far we've been doing okay. So I have confidence that everything is going to work.
Okay. Another failure to feed.
That's actually the last round, so...
There we go.
Okay. Magazine one of the Winchester white box. Our fifth magazine overall.
So far no problems, except for operator error. So far the gun has been operating as expected.
There you go. Magazine one of the Winchester white box. No extraction problems. Everything's running through clean.
So far so good!
Second magazine of Winchester white box. Our 6th magazine overall.
So far, no problems that are related to the gun.
So far only problems related to the physical and mental nature of the operator.
[Speaking Spanish] No problemas!
Alright. Third magazine of the Winchesters. Seventh overall.
Umm, after this we'll do one more magazine of Golden Sabers. And then, you know, I'm...
And then I'll call it good. I'll call the gun fixed.
Because by this time, when I originally bought the gun, we had at least one failure...
We had a failure to extract on the very first round, and at least one failure to extract with every magazine thereafter except when we shot the Federal Champions.
And then later on we started having issues with the Federal Champions.
So far we've had four magazines of Federal Champions. No issues.
Um, this will be our third magazine of Winchester white box. No issues -- hopefully.
And then we'll do one more magazine and call it good.
And there you go! One more magazine and, um, I'm going to call it fixed. So let's do it.
Eighth and final magazine for today. Uh... Testing the new extractor on this and so far it's been working great.
The only issues we've had have not been extraction related. They've been feed related. And that's probably my fault.
Either in my technique -- my shooting technique -- or the fact that [laughs] I didn't clean the gun last time I used it.
Anyway, now we're going to run the Golden Saber, jacketed hollow points. Just five magazines. Nickle-plated casings, all that.
You know, everything you'd expect from a fancy bullet.
And I just pulled a watermelon -- we'll call it a zombie watermelon (we'd hate to kill anything that's not a zombie) -- out of my garden.
Just a little tiny guy. A little runt zombie watermelon.
And I'm going to try -- keyword "try" -- to hit that thing. So we'll see what we can do.
And there's a car coming, so I'm going to wait just a second.
But nice hit though, right?
While we're waiting for that car to drive by, let's go take a look at [unintelligible].
[Sound of car driving past]
I gotta say, it's been probably over a month since I've done any precision target shooting, so I'm a little impressed with myself.
Okay guys. Let's finish these last four rounds off.
We blew the living tar out of the zombie, didn't we?
Okay, so now we're just going to finish the test off.
Um, that's what it oughta look like when you shoot a zombie in the head, okay? Just an explosion of red matter all over the place.
Well, if you shoot a zombie watermelon in the head.
Okay, so last four rounds.
And, I gotta tell you, this thing is a ton more fun when it works. And it has been working!
I had... You know, I was a little concerned because the new extractor that Taurus sent me looked exactly like my old one.
And, uh, you know; if you haven't seen the video where I show how to replace the extractor, go ahead and take a look at that
and you'll see they look pretty much the same. I was hoping there was a design change, but apparently there was just something wrong with the original extractor
and even though this one looked the same, obviously it is not the same because everything is working for us now.
I'm very happy. We have a happy PT709 Slim. We have a happy operator.
And, you know, since this is my wife's firearm -- specifically meant to be her carry firearm -- I think she'll be very happy with it too.
So unless we have anymore problems with this in the future, this is the last in the series of the PT709 Slim for me.
So, call it good, and I'm going to go ahead and, for now at least, give it the thumbs up and be happy about it.
Alright! So until next time -- and hopefully we never have a part 4 on this -- until next time, have fun at the range and be safe safe out there, okay?
You know what? I am not going to show that on film. Go ahead and stop it.
