Welcome back to TruthHack.com.
I’m Oscar Obregon and you’re watching the weekly update.
Some of the biggest stories I’ve broken in my career
have had their genesis in the most unexpected places.
For example, 'Fire Sale', my exposé on military contractors, started with a thunderstorm.
I was coming back from covering Justice Starzak’s confirmation hearing,
and I got stuck in the Dallas airport –
all flights were grounded due to lightning strikes.
So I wandered over to the watering hole closest to my gate.
Of course, it was packed -
everyone had the same idea –
but a nice couple of kids, Marines just back from Iraq,
had a spare seat and invited me to join them.
Hearing their stories, man, they had some humdingers –
there was one about a vehicle that came to be known as “The Jeep of No Return”.
That’s where I got my first inkling of the tactics being systematically employed
by contractors to increase waste in the theater of war.
The point is, you never know who’s going to have that detail that can help you break open a story.
So I’m going to continue to follow up with as many of the individuals
interviewed for “Stories from the Mosaic” as I can.
Which is how I met Eliza.
I interviewed Eliza this week for TruthHack.
Her story is simple,
but it’s one of the best examples of how life-changing the GBO has been for some people.
Because in her FlashForward, Eliza discovered a family member she never knew she had: a brother.
Why would Wedeck and his team at the Mosaic Collective be interested in Eliza’s story?
How does it fit?
Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate that it’s moving to some,
but it’s also of a deeply personal nature.
So, how could it connect to the investigation of the cause of the GBO?
As many of you have noticed,
there are some unexpected connections between the stories featured on the Mosaic Collective.
And so far, some of these connections are starting to appear in the “mystery” file
that you’ve all been working hard to unlock.
I don’t know if there’s a pattern in all of this and if there is,
I don’t know who’s responsible for it.
The more I dig into the quicksand surrounding the GBO,
the less footing I have.
But working together - all of you with the Truthhack team –
we can link our proverbial arms and wade our way through the morass to solid ground.
I’ll see you next week with more.
Until then, stay vigilant.
Don’t believe every warning.
Objects are not always closer than they appear.
