Now we're going to start working on teaching your horse to cross tie. Cross ties can be
freighting for a young horse because they restrict their movement in a place unlike
a stall. Where they feel like they should be able to walk forward. So to make this a
little bit easier and safer for the horse we're going to use two lunge lines. Each lunge
line will go through the separate rings of the cross ties and attach to either side of
the horses halter. So to do this you'll need a helper and we'll take the chain lead off.
Having the lunge lines allows you to give and take so we can let him step forward if
he get worried or sacred and we can tie in the lunge line to make him stand a little
bit more still and to make it act more like a true cross tie would be.
