Hi, my name is Michael Lewis with Yeshua Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village.
We're here today to cover the Sai. Now we're going to cover a block counter. We're going
to use a block from both positions. The first position you see is coming down over my head.
I want to keep it running along my arm. If there's a strike, I block. From here, I can
hook down and again just follow through with a counter strike. That way, I'm able to throw
a punch using the ball end of the weapon. Now, again, from the other position, he throws
the overhead strike again, I flip my weapon out and that it catches into the hook. If
it doesn't catch in, that's okay. From there, you can actually just fling it out and then
continue to follow up with your counter strike. From here also, you can flip out this weapon
into your second position to use as your counter strike instead of always stabbing with this
part, you can actually use it as you would as an espaton. You can actually strike to
the collar bone or strike to the side of the face. So that way, you can use both positions
and your blocks and your counters.
