Tea comes from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and herbal tea comes from different plants - they are NOT TEA. So does that mean we should not use the phrase "herbal tea" - isn't it a contradiction in terms? Yes, it is, but it's totally fine to use that phrase, and to to insist on calling herbal tea "tisanes" or "herbal infusions" is just irritating and pedantic. Everybody knows that peppermint tea contains peppermint but not tea. You might also see the phrase "fruit infusions" or "fruit teas" - these are made from fruits such as hibiscus and rosehips and do not contains tea. Flavoured Teas, on the other hand, are exactly that: tea that has been flavoured with artificial or natural flavours. One important aspect of this is that tea contains caffeine and herbs (with the exception of Yerba Mate) do not. Fruit Teas (if they are made from fruits) do not contain caffeine. Flavoured teas (which might be fruity flavours) do contain caffeine. I hope that clears up any confusion. _______________________________________________________ Hello Tea Lovers!
