KitKat's in Space and Instagram stranglIng Vine
Marketing Week posted an article on Living in the moment - link is below -
it shows how smart companies pay attention to what's happening in real time and react
to the event - an example is when RedBull sponsored Felix
to do a free fall jump from 128,000 feet at one point Felix was delayed.
This is when the people at KitKat saw an opportunity. They posted this ad:
Pretty clever - but they didn't stop there. Next Kit Kat attached this (a KitKat) to a
helium balloon, filmed it going up into space,
edited the video and posted it online.
KitKat highlighted and promoted the video as "a break from gravity".
The sad thing is, I don't think Felix actually got the KitKat...
which is unfortunate - who doesn't like KitKat's? moving on...
there's is so much content out there - like the KitKat video and a lot of the content
is created and shared mobily, I read a stat from Android authority stating
within 10 years... "mobile networks to carry 1,000 times more
data" I doubt my "bandwitdh throttling" carrier
is ready for that. Not like I'm going to mention any names of
course. *AT&T*
Now, what kind of data could this be? Well, I'd say video is definitely at the top
of the list.
And speaking of videos being shared mobily
Have you heard of Vine?
1-2 million vine links are posted to Twitter every day.
Through Vine you record and share a 6-second video from your smartphone. The app was acquired
by Twitter in 2012 and recently was made available on Android - and it was being called the instagram
for video. That is... until Instagram just came out with their own 15 second video sharing tool
Vine VS. Instagram
Who will win?
I'd say that's Yet to be determined.
In the meantime, try both
see which one you like better
To end this week's marketing mash-up here are some top VINEs and one instagram video
showing how companies are using to promote their business
