PAL session stands for Peer Assisted Learning It’s a facilitation group. We all come together
and obviously have a PAL leader present. We cover content that we have learnt in the lectures
This is Alex who was my PAL leader last year who also studies Business Management.
This is Jess a second year Management student and current PAL leader for Business Statistics
and Decision Making.
It is not meant to be a second lecture or second tutorial it's meant to be a place for
students to get together and share their knowledge and improve on the subject matter. I don’t
think necessarily for the people that are struggling, I find that in my group they all
come for a further sessions on the module because the modular content is quite in depth.
The whole experience I think isn’t just beneficial for the first year student but
it's also beneficial for the PAL leader because it helps the develop a certain skill set.
Which is extremely valuable in today's current employment market.
I have a group of around 16 to 18 people and I just think that if next year one of them
were to become a PAL leader I’d feel like I’d really achieved something.
