Although the economy isn’t great, one restaurant industry is busting at the seams – literally.
Restaurant chains some refer to as “breastaurants,” are gaining popularity around the United States
according to Technomic. The top three breastaurant chains -- Twin
Peaks, Tilted Kilt and Mugs n’ Jugs-- have each proven successful with 30 percent sales
growth last year. A blogger for MSNBC jokes, besides ballooning revenues, these chains
have a few things in common:
“Chauvinism and patriarchal privilege. JUST KIDDING!... Like ***, these restaurants
feature classic diner fare served by *** girls in skimpy costumes.”
The new restaurants are bypassing the original to the genre – ***.
It’s not just the menus – which include more than just burgers and fries.
It’s themed outfits like kilts or lumberjack attire.
The Huffington Post reports, in comparing his business to ***, Tilted Kilt owner
Ron Lynch says his employees are “sexy classy, sexy smart, or sexy cute, NOT sexy stupid
or sexy ***.” And KTVK says the new breastaurants focus on making their customers feel welcome.
“...owners of some of these hot spots say... it's the food that makes their restaurants
so popular... that, of course, as well as their ability to feed the customer's ego.”
So will *** rebound after its been surpassed? Some are offering *** some advice.
Jezebel has a proposition to put them back on top of Twin Peaks.
Instead of copying its competitors...
“...[***] should completely change the game of catering exclusively to Homer Simpson-like
heterosexual men by introducing a whole new line of specialty restaurants... Instead of
wings and beer, [they] would serve yogurt, pinot grigio, and whatever other food the
American marketing apparatus believes that sensible ladies consume.”
