I think a lot of people when they think of technology they think of their mobile phones
and they think of all these cool little gadgets and even in the business world they think
of it as all this great software that will do all these things. But really technology
is just a tool. I’m a CPA, but I’m an IT practitioner within the CPA profession.
So a lot of people think of being a CPA as a lot of order, a lot of rules and I like
that. I like the structure, I like having a core set of principles and values like integrity
that we can latch on to. But on the other hand there’s the excitement of the IT side
where that really gets balanced out and I’m working on the cutting edge, I’m working
with new things all the time and help people understand how can we take these new technologies
and really leverage that into their businesses. I always tell all of my staff, our clients’
success is really our success. It’s not about the money, it’s about the personal
reward that I get from seeing a client really foster and be able change their industry and
what their doing. Or to turn that internally and to look at my staff and to see them go
through the changes they go through as they are learning what it means to be a professional.
