Our safety rule is that touch or games for play or teasing or affection
which means you like somebody.
Need to be safe,
need to be allowed by the adults in charge,
okay with each person,
and not a secret.
Let’s say that Pig and Duck Like to play a lot
they like to hug, they like to wrestle.
Sometimes they like to tickle.
If it’s okay with the adults in charge, is that okay?
Ya That’s okay.
But let’s say that one day Pig wants to tickle
but Duck doesn’t.
tickle, tickle, tickle
Does that look safe? No
Duck is showing that she doesn’t like it but,
Pig is still tickling. Watch what Duck can do.
tickle, tickle, tickle
“Please stop.” “I don’t like that.”
“Gasp!” “Okay.”
And that’s fine.
But suppose one day Duck was pulling Pig’s ear.
And Pig said, “Please Stop! I don’t like that.”
And Duck went, “awe, wah! That hurt my feelings…”
“When you told me to stop.”
Is it okay for Pig to keep saying stop, even if Duck is sad?
Yes, because look- Duck was really hurting Pig.
And really bothering Pig. And when Pig said to stop
even if Duck is sad, then Pig still gets to choose
whether or not she plays that way.
But you know what Pig can say?
Suppose Duck said, “That hurt my feelings.”
Pig could say, “I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.”
“And, you still have to stop.”
And maybe Duck would say, “Well what else can we play?”
“Let’s go play some ball instead.”
“Okay.”
And they went and had a very good time.
