Highlight text to annotate it
X
>>Narrator: So here I am on the page for the ad I'm going to customize for Gmail.
So I'm gonna name this ad. Let's try 'Gmail1'.
I'm gonna set the headline. Let's see. Let's say 'Free email.'
Gonna set a headline color. I think I'll make it blue.
Description and body text, so that matches here. And I will say, how about, 'More space,
less than'.
Description line, text color. Let's make that blue as well.
And you can, you can choose from all these colors that we have here, or define your own
numerical value.
Gonna upload a logo.
So I'm gonna use the Google logo and I've got that set up here. That should work.
Do I wanna say the call to action should be "BUY NOW"?
How about "Sign up."
Products. OK. So here's one of the most important parts.
Take a look.
The image says it should be 500 by 100 pixels. So I found an image that actually fits those
specifications.
And so right now, we're not automatically resizing the image.
So you should make sure that whatever image you upload meets the specifications that's
laid out in the ad.
So you can use any standard photo software, image software, to resize the ad, and I think
I used Microsoft Picture Manager to do that and it takes just a couple of seconds.
So I'm gonna change this image. And I have a 500 by 100 Gmail image, and I have my Google
logo uploaded.
And I'm just gonna update preview. So I would recommend frequently updating the preview
just to make sure everything fits and it's working.
So it looks good so far.
And so, my Google logo has a white background and it doesn't really look good against a
colored background. So I'm gonna change the color of the background, not of the button,
but of the background of the ad.
Change that to white. I think I want a different color for, hmm. Let's just take a look and
see if that works.
[pause]
Looks good to me. And I'm gonna keep everything else the same, I think.
I'm gonna set a display URL. So, your URL goes here. I will say 'gmail.com' and I'm
gonna set the color to be black.
Destination URL, 'gmail.com'.
So let's see how that looks. Great.
So now, the great thing about this is that I only had to customize one ad and now I'm
gonna click "continue."
Checking the ad text. And it will automatically build several other sizes for you.
So, you can say 300 by 250, 120 by 600, 160 by 600.
So, you essentially just need to customize one ad, but as you can see here, this doesn't
really work in the 120 by 600.
It doesn't work in the 160 by 600. The layout is not fitting.
So a couple things you can do here.
[clears throat]
One is you can go back and make -- you can adjust the image so that it would work.
So maybe you have to take this part and push it over a little bit to the right.
But what I would recommend for right now is just to uncheck them and not run these ads.
And so, these two are working quite well and you are set.
Save ad. It goes into your campaign. And you're all set.
And if you want to learn anything more, you can go to google.com/adwords/displayadbuilder,
or google.com/adwords/displayads101 and it'll take you to the same site.
Thanks.
