A gay group in Taiwan presented a petition to the government on Friday, with the aim
of persuading MPs to introduce civil partnership legislation, that would grant same-sex couples
the same rights as married straight couples.
Lesbian MSP Ruth Davidson has launched her bid
to lead the Scottish Conservative Party. A former BBC journalist, she is said to be
Tory leader David Cameron’s preferred choice for the job.
A Facebook group has been set up for gay Iranians to come out and discuss their
personal stories. Iran has the death penalty for homosexuality and there is no gay rights
movement operating within the country.
The House of Lords Select Committee on *** and AIDS has published a report on the
*** response in the UK. The Committee warns of “potentially huge cost implications…
of failing to deal effectively with the epidemic.”
Three gay men have been attacked in the US state of Utah in the last two weeks.
LGBT community activist Eric Ethington told the Salt Lake Tribune: “This is what happens
when our local government refuse to take the problems in our state seriously.”
