So the main difference between Bedding Petunias
and Trailing Petunias is the overall flower power and branching.
So trailing petunia naturally branch or self-branch if you will
without any clipping or trimming. Allowing them to have more flowers
opening up, covering up the old ones. So you never have to dead head. That's what makes them
such a positive feature with these types of petunias.
So just using these as examples here, you can just see the amount of flowers
were getting
off of three plants. There are only three plants planted
in these baskets. this one here to my left, this is that Cascadias Rim Magenta.
It has a new color this season.
Really impressive. Very consistent
zoning as you can see. So pretty much ninety-nine percent
consistent in the way that rim ring
around
purple color. And over here
to my right, this is Cascadia Bicolor
Cabernet. Again, very consistent in its
bicolor effect. Just an awesome variety.
So this variety here is Sufinia Wild Plum. It's kind of a neat variety and it starts
off a rich violet or plum color and they slowly
get a little bit lighter as they age. They have a little bit that
silver hue tip that you get on a plum. So
an interesting variety. Over here, this is
by far is our best red
trailing petunia. It's a little more compact than some of the other varieties
but it holds its dark red color throughout the whole season
which is very crucial for people who like a dark red.
And that's called Surfinia Deep Red.
Over here, an awesome new
variety that came out this year. I think this is going to be one of our top
sellers.
Flash Mob Bluerific it's called.
Cool name too. You get that beautiful, silvery white
spotting
you know, going into the middle. Just really
neat, new variety that's come out. A little more operate in the middle but still,
it's going to be a great fit in our 12-inch baskets.
Just to let you know as well as the varieties we've been talking about here; these are all
sold in our larger 12-inch baskets.
Later on in this segment, we'll get in some varieties that are strictly sold
in a smaller, 11-inch size and I will let you know when that occurs.
Over here, we have one of our best sellers now three or four years in a
row.
It's called Glow Forest Fire. it just got that
really dark eye in the middle. A little bit of a lighter red than the Surfinia Deep
Red but still, again like I said, a very popular
variety. And our favorite and best-selling
dark vein variety is Ray
Purple Vein. So for
people who like a really dark contrast between the veining and the light blue
on the outside,
this would be by far the best one. A little more compact
than some the other varieties like the waves but still makes a really good
a three foot hanging basket in
full growth. Waves, by the way, can get up to 6 feet long.
You know, all these show pots were showing here
aren't as big as they naturally would be for you because we took the show plants down
in June
and cut them back hard before we planted them. So they're
not nearly as large as they would be if you were to buy a hanging basket. Moving along now,
our favorite burgundy one here would be Sanguna Burgundy.
Just trialed out as our our best burgundy colored variety.
Very nice and vigorous. Great choice. And for a hot pink,
Sanguna Lipstick. It's got a bright lipstick color.
Always as one of our top sellers
as well. And this one was new
on the market this year. And again, very consistent in its picotee habit
which is what we're looking for, for a lot of these varieties that come out. The star type
or the picotee type.
Sometimes you get half the flowers that revert to
a solid color and doesn't look as
stunning as you will. You know, you want that nice, consistent
look so you get the contrast between the white ring
and the purple color on the inside. And
this variety here is called Famous
Violet Picotee.
These next few varieties here are
sort of in a separate group on their own. They're called SuperCal.
So they're crossed with calibrachoa and
trailing petunia. They got that extreme vigor of a
trailing petunia but the flower style
of a calibrachoa with a yellow throat. That's
one unique feature you get with all calibrachoa, that yellow
throat in them.
So again, classed in our 12-inch section
and very vigorous like i was saying. This one here is
SuperCal Pink Ice and SuperCal
Neon Rose. Just a couple examples. There are other colors in this series
but we'll just start with showing you two of them.
