Today we are celebrating the topping off of the first new building on the old haymarket block.
It sure seems a lot different, when you see pictures of the old haymarket block.
But as you're going to see in just a few mintues, this is not your traditional topping off ceremony.
with the final steel beam being lifted by a crane.
and placed on the top of a building.
We decided for today we wanted to do something a little different.
a little fun and a little more forward thinking we thought.
so we're really looking forward to talking to you about our green roof that is going to be part of our topping off today.
We think that this symbolizes our growth, including the green growth
that Nucleus and the university are helping to bring to Louisville.
Ramsey: The University of Louisville and our wholly owned subsidiary, Nucleus
are committed to sustainability. We're committed to economic development.
And those two do go hand in hand. It's not one or the other.
We are committed to both sustainability and economic development.
We expect the new building to be like all the buildings we're building at the University of Louisville.
Or that we're renovating at the University of Louisville.
We expect this building to be LEED certified.
Fischer: As amazing as the facility is, it really is more about ideas.
It's about a place that houses people that come together where we can get smart people
talking to each other, seeing how we can get bigger together
And that energy also attracts other entgrepreneurs to come in here as well to say
we can do it. Because cities that make things happen are full of
people that say 'we can do this.'
Tandy: When you look at the building itself and you look at
the number of jobs it created, not just in construction
but what it has to do in terms of the small businesses that it will create
that's making progress as a community.
