You're watching Minecraft for friends,
an educational series
I'm Cryazote
Welcome.
Let's go.
Creating a world.
In the heat of the moment...
... let's see what Minecraft has in store for us.
Very well !
A forest, some wood, and snow.
I love snow...
If you happen to start on a desert island
with no trees at all,
I suggest that you start over on.
It will be faster...
... than trying to find something that can help you.
But if there's a tree or two on that desert island,
it could be the beginning of a beautiful little adventure.
So, first episode, first day...
We need to prepare the forecoming night.
The sun will go all this way
and then set there.
And when it gets dark
the monsters appear
and then
it is better to be enclosed
and in possession of light.
Several methods:
first we're going to try to find some coal.
If we don't find some, we're going to use the wood I'm cutting right now
and by cooking it up we'll obtain charcoal,
Which works identically for the creation of torches.
Third option:
Trying to find sheep, wool,
and build a bed.
For my part I am "anti-bed".
I never use any,
except to redefine my starting point.
It switches night to day, all right,
but doing so we don't have the challenge to encounter monsters
and it also tends to make the weather always sunny,
and I do love the rain in Minecraft,
I do love snow.
So beds are not for me.
So I picked up 14 pieces of wood.
You can see what's happening:
when a tree has no trunk anymore
its foliage disappears slowly
and a lot of things fall from it,
most of the time, these are saplings,
as here,
pine saplings, that we gather
and we can replant for new trees.
And if I had cut an oak down
I could have had apples...
You wonder "apples in oaks"?
Well, this is Minecraft!
It's always better to have apples than acorns
even if it could be used to feed pigs.
Well let's stop saying crap
and let's check out the scenery around.
Although "scenery", is not the right word in Minecraft
since what makes this game so unique is actually
that there isn't really just a landscape.
Everything, absolutely everything that you can see in the world
is something with which you can interact in at least one way.
You can interact with grass
with dirt, with snow
with chickens
with these trees in the distance
that tell us that there is a jungle there.
Here we can see a sea.
I think I'll go over there, it looks like there is a lake
and it is rather flat, I like that.
We'll stay close to this snowy place here I looove snow...
So no saplings left ?
Here's one!
Hop!
Let's go down, build a shelter
and find coal as mentioned earlier.
Direction : the plain
We will be the "man of the Taiga", but... In the plain...
The purpose of this series
is being shown to people who do not play Minecraft
either to make them want to play,
or at least to explain why you,
you spend days playing it,
or watching videos of it,
which could look dull
if there was not an explanation.
Pumpkins here!
It's all fine...
Well its just a nice lake!
A waterfall.
We happened to choose a very nice place to settle...
And sheep...
I will be able to show you the creation of a bed.
Well ! Let's get to work !
This is the area for objects creation.
If I put a piece of wood in it,
I get 4 planks.
With those four planks, I can create a workbench.
And a workbench
looks the same, there is an area for creating objects,
but a larger one which allows extremely more numerous combinations.
Let's create more planks.
With half of those planks I create sticks,
and with this, I will create basic tools.
A handle,
wood top,
we have a wooden pick.
A handle,
a single piece of wood,
we have a shovel.
As we will have to cut more wood,
since the wood is the basic resource,
then an ax !
For sheep, as we do not want to hunt them by hand
despite our savagery,
we'll craft a wooden sword,
though it is not very kind
trying to kill a sheep by hitting it with a wooden sword,
but hey, as long as it works.
And then let's make this tool there,
which is a hoe,
for farming
Well !
So if I can not find coal, I'm gonna burn that wood in an furnace,
to get charcoal to make torches for the night.
Where is the sun?
The sun goes down in that direction.
It is already past noon. It sucks.
Coal I can see everywhere...
Not very accessible though.
OK first...
Sheep... Let's go hunting!
Every time I kill a sheep I get wool.
One block of wool.
There's a second.
For a bed, I need 3 blocks of wool,
therefore I must kill one more sheep poor animal.
OK, there you are...
And there are still more friends over there...
So it's ok, we can repopulate later.
That's it!
Of course, three sheep of different color, it's three different blocks,
it takes three spaces in my inventory...
I should have thought of this before and do it another way, but it is no big deal.
Oh well look, coal here ! Easier.
* sigh *
The shovel to clear the dirt...
It makes me a block of dirt,
that I'm gonna put there
for a staircase.
With this amount of coal,
I should be ok for several nights,
for torches
and also to cook stuff.
Though for the first night I do not think that I'm gonna have to cook food
Well I'll cook the wood then, to show the charcoal crafting,
although I don't think
an example is necessary for this.
OK One last...
Here! The sun is already behind the mountain...
And I fall like a derp.
Coming back home...
Oh no. I remember I have not yet a home.
There, an egg...
In Minecraft, chickens lay eggs.
Let's do it the simple way,
our house will be a hole.
For the night, it'll do...
We will just enlarge it...
How does it look?
Looks OK
Let's get all this dirt,
make it flat here...
Good!
Back to the crafting table...
A stick,
a coal,
4 torches.
We're gonna put some on the outside,
so If ever I'm back home in the middle of the night,
it will be easier to find the entrance.
Of course one inside,
as we are gonna barricade ourselves,
Well, that's Minecraft!
Taking blocks, putting blocks, and crafting objects.
Oh yes, I've promised I'd show you a bed,
so this is how : three planks for support,
3 wools above, regardless of their color,
And presto!
A bed!
I get my crafting table back inside.
Here.
I put my bed.
I do not know about you, but I carry it like this.
I've been told there is a good way IRL but that does not really affect Minecraft.
So the night has fallen, the episode is about to end.
I think we did well,
we're gonna spend the night quiet.
The monsters start appearing
and I don't really want to wait to spot them.
Let's go back inside!
Let's barricade ourselves!
That's it! See you at the next episode,
in which we will do a little bit of exploration,
visit other environments.
We've seen the plain, we may go in the jungle, in a desert, etc,
bring back resources from these areas,
and prepare equipment for going caving after that,
which will not happen until third episode.
We will then slowly play a more serious gaming style,
fight monsters, go spelunking dark caves.
During this night I'm gonna do a bit of work.
So see you next time. Thanks everybody.
See you soon.
