The next lesson is what we call a bonus group. We do this in the
Friday night Bronze II Latin class as a challenge to our students
to see if they can figure it out and dance it on the Friday night.
Now, this is basically the same group as group number two,
where we do the Travelling Criss Cross Voltas and the
Shadow Bota Fogos, etcetera, etcetera. But, we add a little twist to it.
So, take a look, and you can see what the little twist is.
We start with Basics, and then the Whisk,
and then the Samba Walk. Side Samba Walk.
Now we can continue with the Travelling Criss Cross Voltas.
One, a-two, a-three, a-four, a-five, a-six, a-seven, a-eight,
one, a-two, a-three, a-four, a-five, a-six, a-seven, a-eight,
Whisk. Now, did you see what we changed
and what the challenge is? If not, I'll explain it to you.
In group two, we did two sets of Voltas.
One, a-two, a-three, a-four, five, a-six, a-seven, a-eight.
And we can continue with the Bota Fogos and then the May Pole.
The May Pole started here with the lady turning to the right.
We'll just do it for now. One, a-two, a-three, a-four.
But what we did here was we didn't stop at the end of the second set of Voltas.
I'll rewind. First set of Volta:
one, a-two, a-three, a-four, five, a-six, a-seven, a-eight.
And you'll notice I purposely went ahead of Wendy.
Wendy's here and I'm ahead. I did this because we're going to do
a third set of Volta, the man going in front and
the lady going behind the man. One, a-two, a-three, a-four.
And then for a second change, we're going to dance the May Pole
with the lady circling to the left, not to the right, left,
and the man coming behind her for the Volta. Sort of like a mirror image.
One, a-two, a-three, a-four, Whisk.
Perhaps you can see it better if I go across the camera.
So, Samba Walk again. One-a-two, two-a-two, three-a-two,
Side Samba Walk. First set of Volta,
she's ahead of me. Second set of Volta,
I'm ahead of Wendy. Third set of Volta,
we change places again, lady going behind man.
I'll raise the hand. Then the May Pole,
the man circles the hand over the lady's head
counter-clockwise. One, a-two, a-three, a-four,
Whisk. So there's your challenge,
to try to sort all that out on your own, or come to class and see it first hand in
person, and try and do it yourself.
We're going to do it with the music.
