Hi, Thanks for clicking the play button. I'm Deaf Girl Amy and I am going to be extremely
brief because
I don't know any middle aged chic who likes to be on camera. But I'm a writer and I wrote
my book
about a year ago. It's called "A Survival Guide for New Deafies!" As you can tell from
my
speech, I am a deaf girl. I lost my hearing when I was about 27. So Im gonna tell ya about
my project
it's for my book tour and its for my app that I am developing. Ahh... First I want to tell
you some
crazy statistics. Over 36 million Americans are currently suffering from a hearing loss
of some form.
Only 1 out of 5 who can benefit from a hearing aid actually wear them. And the biggest one
that really
shocked me, and rocked my world was that the Veterans Administration actually counts for
20%
of hearing aids sold in the United States. I am just giving the background as to why
I am doing this
and what Im doing this for... I am extremely passionate about this... I've lived through
the hell
of losing my hearing and trying to acclimate, so... right now I'm in a process of trying
to reach a bigger
audience. I have used social media to get my book out there. Publishers didn't want
it because it was
such a small niche. I've spent my life savings on publishing the book. So now I need your
help. I want
go on a book tour. I've had multiple invitations to come and speak to a lot of non-profit organizations
who don't have the funds for my travel and that's what I'm doing this for. And if you
can see by my
rewards, I am trying to encourage you to click a button and say you'll be a backer, so I
hope you'll
help me reach the people, throw out that wide net, so that people like myself don't have
to suffer like I
did...for over 5 years of not knowing how to acclimate myself to being a deaf girl.
And I thank you! If you
have any questions... I'm an open book. You can reach me through my website at DeafGirlAmy.com
Ummm.. thank you very much for even looking at the video. Have a good day.
