Luxury is an overworked word these days
and everything tends to be luxury.
And our luxury is just very comfortable, relaxing,
thoughtfully equipped.
We tried to make the two barns
as different as possible so people have a genuine choice.
We wanted to make them just for two people
so that they were cosy.
And as they've become known,
very romantic.
Romance comes at all stages of relationship.
We have people who come for their honeymoons, lots of people come for honeymoon.
Birthdays, anniversaries, golden weddings, proposals.
From one end of the scale to the other.
[birdsong]
We're on the edge of the village, on one side is farmland. In the summer there's buttercups,
cows. It's very quiet, very peaceful.
Parwich itself is a very lovely village with its own school, church, shop, pub.
And it's an old-fashioned pub.
Most of our guests appreciate having a shop
in what used to be the dining room of the pub.
[music]
People like coming here. They like being able
to go to places like Chatsworth, which is within half an hour's drive.
They love places like Dovedale,
which is pretty famous and very attractive. You can cross the
stepping stones if they're not under water.
[music]
Tissington Hall is our local estate I suppose.
People like the well dressings, which are pretty well unique to Derbyshire.
And the Tissington well dressings are pretty special
In the village there's the White Peak Butchery
which does have the most wonderful meat. We and our guests seem to like the Tissington
Old Bangers particularly. Lots of people go over to get bacon for breakfast.
Bakewell's another very beautiful place.
It has a wonderful market every Monday. At least three shops
all sell the original Bakewell pudding.
You can bring your boat to Carsington or you can
hire a boat. You can hire a windsurfer, or bring your own.

Winter is lovely here. Recently we had more snow than we've had for many, many
years. But every single person, in about two months of snow, did get here, and every single
person was able to leave.
The sun's not always shining, but
both the barns are beautifully warm.
[music]
Both barns have their own little private garden. Both have got a nice kettle barbecue
and a sun parasol. Tom's Barn is one on a rather uneven surface because it used to be
a grain store. Douglas's Barn has got a stone terrace. It overlooks our garden and
the valley beyond.

All the guests that come to Tom's Barn can bring a dog.
Tom's Barn is what we always describe as farmhousey.
Douglas's Barn is more modern in a way.
There's a little Sony netbook in each barn
You'll find masses of maps, walk books,
good food guides, good pub guides, good beer guides, the lot.
Everybody will have a different experience, because everybody's
looking for something different.
They all say they really appreciate what
they call the little extras.
There'll be a jug of herbs if it's the summer.
There'll be a tea tray with home made cake on it, there'll be fresh eggs from the nearby farm,
milk, and it comes in bottles which a lot of our guests have never seen,
butter, bread, pretty well everything that you need, certainly to start off with.
If you let us know what papers you'd like, they will be delivered, popped in a white
box in the garden, and with a bit of luck you can read it with your breakfast.
Everybody goes away feeling rested, refreshed, they've all had a wonderful time,
whatever they've decided to do, and it gives us pleasure to know that.
Because that's what we want to provide, we want to provide people with the opportunity to have
the best holiday ever.
