I'm going to show you how to make baked tortilla chips because I'm just like
everybody else, I like to snack on tortilla chips and salsa and
unfortunately the ones you buy in the store or if you go to the restaurant, they're full
of calories and fat. So, there is an easy way to make your own.
You can actually just bake your own tortilla chips. You start out with a
corn or a flour tortilla. Now I like to use corn ones because traditionally
tortilla chips are made from corn but corn tortillas are also lower in fat.
So I take a couple of corn tortillas on a cutting board with my pizza cutter
and slice them in half
and then I cut them again in half
and place them on a cookie sheet.
Just spray them with a little cooking spray this way you're adding a little fat
but not very much.
You can sprinkle them with salt,
a little garlic powder, a little chili powder, whatever you prefer
and then we just take them and place them in the oven at four hundred degrees
for about seven minutes.
We have our tortilla chips
halfway through the cooking process and we just have to turn them over.
Then just give them another little spritz of cooking spray
and put them back in the oven for about another three minutes.
Now our chips are done, all baked they look nice and brown.
Just put them right in a bowl,
serve them with a little salsa, and you're ready to eat.
There's your lower-fat tortilla chip
that you can enjoy and snack on without having to worry about too many calories
and fat.
