Now, the longer you do this, the hotter this whole thing is going to get. Right here it's
not so hot, but as I move my hand up the rod, I can feel the temperature get higher and
higher and higher. Up in here I might actually get burned if I touched it. And of course,
the hotter it gets, the quicker it lights like that. Remember when I first lit it? It
took quite some time for the fire to jump to full length. Now in the last clip I held
the torch, but I wasn't actually holding it with my lips. I was holding it with my teeth.
Your teeth are actually a little less sensitive at the very end. Remember, the nerve ending
for your tooth is deep inside the tooth. It's not at the surface. Now it would be the equivalent
of that, except your fingers are much more sensitive. Now I just touched that fire clearly.
Now my fingers are a little bit hot, so I'm going to use the other hand. The heat stays
for awhile. Now, I touched it for a few seconds but it didn't actually burn. I mean yea, it
got hot and I let go of it rather quickly, but there's not a first or a second degree
burn on there.
