A common complaint that we hear from job seekers is that they go to an employer's booth at
the job fair and the recruiters will tell them to go to the website. Can you explain
this process and why it is important? Maureen Conte: Sure, absolutely, it has to
do with the OFCCP regulations. All government contractors are required to track applicants,
and based on a particular company's legal reading on what an applicant is, it may be
anyone that contacts them at a job fair or searches that are done on a job board. All
of those candidates must be tracked against the requisition that's been posted. OFCCP
will come in and periodically audit government contractors and if you're not in compliance
with those regulations, they could actually stop a company from working on government
contracts. So, it's not that the recruiter is trying to brush off a candidate, it's really
important that you apply online and get your resume into that applicant tracking system
for those regulations.
