>> Welcome to Take 2 at UW Stout weekly news update for May 3 to 11.
Hi, I'm Ben.
>> Hi, I'm Allison.
It's hard to believe that the semester is winding down, the last day of classes is Tuesday May 7, finals begin Thursday May 9 and Commencement is May 10 and 11.
On Sunday, May 5, an open house will be held at the Challenge Course on the hill above the Athletics Field.
Bring a friend or a group to try out the ropes course and climb the big tower, all with expert supervision.
On Tuesday May 7, visit the Stem Expo in the Great Hall of the Student Center.
About 375 students will be presenting their projects in science, technology, engineering and math.
>> On Wednesday, May 8, don't miss this, a steam roller is coming to campus; it will act as a giant printing press and will roll over wood blocks carved by art students to make giant art prints.
It's from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in parking lot 29, next to Nelson Field.
>> On Thursday and Friday nights, May 9 and 10, don't miss the senior shows in applied arts; art and design students present their biggest and best projects of the year in entertainment, interior, industrial and graphic design.
Good luck to the softball and track teams which are competing in the conference tournaments.
>> And best wishes to the women's golf team in the national tournament later this month in Florida.
Finally this week, congratulations to biology instructors Mandy Little and Jim Church, they have been awarded a $550,000 federal grant to study seasonal wetlands.
The research will take place in Chippewa County near the Ice Age Trail for the next 5 years.
Did you know UW Stout has more than 2.6 million dollars in current federal research grants?
Grants like these might be used to fund research projects that use technology like this nuclear magnet resonance instrument behind me.
Good luck with finals and see you next week [inaudible].
