My name is Megan, I'm from Upper Marlboro, MD, and I'm an accounting major.
I'm Sadie
My name is Vincent
My name is Scott
I'm Gabby
I'm a mass communication major
Integrated early childhood and special education major
double major in biology and chemistry
I'm originally from Somerdale, NJ
from Eagleville, PA
Williamsport, MD
Long Island, NY
I chose Towson because of the Honors College.
The fact that the Honors College offers you a scholarship as soon as you get in.
Early registration I would say is probably one of the best benefits.
Honor students actually get to register even as freshman before normal seniors.
The resources are all around you, you just have to talk to people.
The Honors College staff has been amazing
They will bend over backwards to help a student.
Like with my academics or if I had an interest in an internship.
I interned at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
I had an internship this summer with the Anacostia Watershed Society.
I interned at GSK Pharmaceuticals.
I had that experience and then I came back and brought it back to the classroom,
and it just seems to make school and my major a little bit more sense.
What I really like about the Honors College is that it gives you the opportunity to learn through discussion.
We can share our opinions and everything like that which is awesome.
Classes are more in-depth, forcing students to go deeper.
My favorite class was Leading a Life that Matters.
Economic Issues in Latin America
Acoustic Ecology and Sound Art
Chivalry during the Middle Ages
International Food and Culture
Classes aren't super hard compared to other classes, I'd almost rather take Honors classes
because they're smaller; you get to know your peers and your teacher better.
Not only do you go to class with your friends, but you also get to come back to a place where you all live.
For me, my first year here it felt more like a family coming home to than a big scary dorm or something like that.
Coming from Pennsylvania, I didn't know anybody here in Maryland.
So as soon as I met people on my floor they became some of my best friends.
We're always in each other's rooms hanging out
It's just such a great community, everyone is like just great friends.
A very peaceful environment to do your studying
surrounded by Honors College students so they're aware of what you need for study time hours.
They also have extended quiet hours so that gives them more time
to make sure they have enough time to do all their work.
Personally, I think that the people who are in the Honors College are the ones that know how to budget their time up well
study at the right times, and then have fun at the other times.
You definitely don't study all day.
We've gone to dinner together or we've just done activities around campus.
We have movie nights
fun and games nights, arts and crafts nights.
We'll go to football games together
I also love the aspect of the Building Council in which they plan a variety of different events throughout the whole school year
I think the Trick or Treat event was the best one. We had about a hundred people come out.
There is also the Roommate Game which is kind of like Newlyweds.
We also have Seminar Night in which we have professors come and speak about their courses.
It's also real nice to get the first scoop on all the Honors College activities.
I studied abroad in Madrid this summer.
I studied abroad in Australia.
I studied abroad in Italy
and we got to see the history behind different cities,
try the different foods that were popular there.
I visited Rome, I visited Venice, I visited Pisa.
The highlight of my trip was snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef.
That was definitely something I will never forget.
I kind of based my entire college search based around Towson and the Honors College
because I really wanted to do it.
It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
It was really great being here.
I found friends I know I'm going to have forever.
I'm getting the opportunity to really feel what I'm learning
as opposed to just learning it, moving on.
I'm actually understanding and feeling for these things and it’s makes me grow as a person
and making my knowledge grow, and it's just been a great opportunity so far.
