Hello, and welcome to "Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This?" I'm your host, Jory Caron.
The light bulb, America's pastime! And it has been for over 100 years. This one, obviously, was one of Edison's originals...
Hey, it looks a lot like this one on my shirt, which you can actually buy at CafePress.com/ideoProductions.
Ooh! Idea! We should microwave it!
*theme song plays*
Jory: Let's go roast some nuts!
Jory: And, as always, our Sharp microwave!
Jory: It's never a good idea, unless you want an explosion!
Jory: Stopping, stopping!
Jory: Safety is our number-one concern.
Jon: Wow! That's a lotta smoke!
Jory: The masks- they do nothing!
Jory: We also have this big tin foil shield. Nobody likes roasted nuts!
Ezra: Is it a good idea?
Jory: (laughs) Absolutely!
Jory: Is it a good idea to microwave this?
Let's find out! Here at the Jory Caron Laboratory, safety is our number-one concern. That's why we have these masks.
And we also hide behind this big tin foil shield. It's to protect our nuts, because nobody likes roasted nuts!
Jon: Let's go into the laboratory!
Jory: Da-da-da-da! No, I was expecting trumpets and stuff...
*trumpets blare in the background*
You can put that it there later, with editing or something! Oh, well... We have a fan, to circulate this air. And, as always, we have our Sharp carousel microwave.
She's just so smooth...
Jon: Yeah, alright, Jory! That's enough of that!
Yeah, so in goes the giant light bulb.
Jon: The BIG, giant bulb! Look at how big! I'm not even sure- if this were in wattage, I think it's in, like, the 600 category!
Jory: Uh, I think it's, like, 6000! It's 6K!
I know you're, like, gonna comment on this, but I really don't care... I don't!
So, in it goes!
Jon: The big, giant light bulb! The big, giant light!
Jory: So, how long should I put it in there for?
Jon: Let's see... The old light bulb I think we did- I would say at least two minutes, just to be sure..
Okay, okay. Two minutes. Now, let's get outta here. Let's go!
Jon: Retreat! (hums Super Mario Brothers-type music)
Jory: Okay, ready?
Jon: Go for it, dude! Come on in!
Ryan: Oh-ho-ho-ho!
Jory: It's a rainbow all at once!
Ryan: That is awesome!
Jory: I don't know where you can buy these, folks, but if you find them, post the link! Send us a link. we will send it out there, 'cause I'm sure... Oh!
Jon: Whoa, Nellie!
Jory: This is better than the Fourth of July!
Ryan: So awesome!
Next Fourth of July, folks, four of those in a microwave, if you wanna send 'em to us! 'Cause we don't have any more!
Ryan: That is SO awesome!
Jon: Wow! Look at that thing! It IS like the Fourth of July!
Jory: It's so many different colors! It's arcing back and forth! It's just getting brighter!
Jon: This could be bad!
Ryan: I'm scared!
Jon: No, no, not yet! Hold the door!
Ryan: That is SO bright!
Jory: We need welding masks, folks!
Ryan: Yeah, I'm scared!
Jon: Wow! That is like looking into the Sun!
Ryan: That is unbelievable!
Jon: It's sparking, there's flames, it's glowing like Tesla's death coil, but it has not exploded yet!
Jory: We just can't do it, cap'n! I have an idea!
Ryan: A really, really bright idea!
Jory: It's still glowing!
Jon: It's giving off its own power! With this light bulb, you can power the city of Manhattan for 69 seconds!
Well, what do we do now?! I don't wanna touch it! The other one we did exploded after, like, ten seconds!
Jory: (from first episode) Stopping, stopping!
This thing is a monster!
Ryan: The glass is so thick!
I'm seeing that, like, green spot! I don't wanna see where it goes to, folks! Folks, if you fabricate a safe/microwave, I will do this the rest of the way!
But until then, this is all you're getting outta this!
Jon: It probably still works!
Jory: I doubt that!
Jon: Okay, yeah, you fried it. Good work!
Jory: This thing's like two light bulbs in one! There's that bulb right there, and I think that is still working. We just fried the outer casing.
Is it a good idea to microwave a giant light bulb?
Jon: Yeah, I don't know about that!
Um, I"m gonna say "yes"! This is why! Brilliant show!
Jon: Explain, please!
And do you have a socket that would fit that? It's useless anyway, folks! Microwave it! Do yourself a favor!
Jory: It'll actually work now! That's its socket!
So, that's pretty much it for "Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This?" I'm your host, Jory Caron.
