100 Maori workers in a Maori business
have been given the contract to guard Whangarei Stadium
when RWC games are played there.
Kia Tupato Security are working hard to prepare for the first game
between Canada and Tonga.
This Maori company is getting ready
to lock down the Whangarei Stadium for the RWC matches.
Our main message to our visitors'
is said in our company name 'Kia Tupato'.
'Be careful' is the phrase,
and taking care at the stadium is the aim.
They have the security contract for the RWC matches
to be played here at the Whangarei Stadium.
We have been working this area night and day for some time now.
It's not long before the big match
between Canada and Tonga will take place here.
It's been Vicky-Jean's job
to train Kia Tupato Security's new staff
who'll be working on Wednesday.
There's a lot of work involved like training,
organising the training and teaching them to use these RTs.
One of the new workers is Wayne's cousin.
Her dad is Maori and her mum is from Canada, where she grew up.
This coming Wednesday,
the grounds will be covered in red of white colours,
and it will be Kia Tupato Security's responsibility to ensure
that every one is safe and well looked after.
There are three key messages to fans;
don't trample all over the grounds;
make sure you listen to the security at the stadium;
and it's a smoke-free environment.
Although this Maori family's colours are all black, but come Wednesday,
they'll be supporting their relation.
For now, the gates of the Whangarei stadium are locked.
But on Wednesday, they'll open again.
