In Porirua today, the Manu Korero competition was held
for secondary students in the Wellington region.
An ancient proverb wielded by the youth of Wairarapa
and Hutt Valley region in the Wellington Regional Manu Korero.
We want to see the children standing with the pride of their ancestors.
There are 43 competitors, senior and junior, from Otaki, Kapiti
and Wellington schools competing in the Maori and English sections.
Their aim is to make the national competition.
It was hard, but I did it.
I had my ups and downs, but it was fine.
But here, competition isn't the most important thing.
The junior are a little shy, but the important thing
is that both senior and junior sections go well.
The language is the most important thing.
All the students are winners today, and the language.
The Tauranga Moana Regional Manu Korero
will be held in September.
