Finder preferences and the way your mac looks is a very personal thing
once you get it looking right you don't want to change how it looks
now what we can do is you can disable finder preferences from being
changed with a terminal command
so how do we disable Finder from being changed? we are going to open terminal in the applications
utilities folder
we are going to write a command that changes the preference
write default write
com.apple.finder
the command has been written in the comments if you want to copy and paste it
prohibits
Finder
preferences
boolean which says the command is either yes or no, true false, one or zero
i am going to write true
and press enter
the preference has been change but finder doesn't realise the preference has been changed
because it only loads the file once
so don't tell it to die
and then the launch with killall Finder
Finder has to be with a capital F
now when you go to Finder
the preferences has suddenly disappeared
als you can't access it with the keyboard shortcut
since you're disabled Finder's preferences we can't change them
however you want to change it we can re-enable it change it back
so we can
now you write out the entire command again or you can press the up arrow twice
back to previous command
and simply replace false with true
true with false rather
press enter once again
killall Finder will tell Finder to reload it preferences
and then when the command has been finished
you'll notice that preferences
has now re-appeared
one quick terminal command you can stop meddling kids
