Hi I'm Tim Gipson and I'm going to talk to you about how to fix blinds. Now when you
want to work on your blinds it is very important to have a flat surface where you can get your
blind in and when you take your blinds down you want to make sure that they're all the
way open and that the slats are also straight across you don't want them closed so you want
your blinds open and you want them extended all the way down. Then you can pull them out
of the fixture and lay them down on a kitchen table such as this and now they'll be very
easy to work on. Some common problems that we have in the slats and in this particular
case we've had a little bit of a leak from a window so we've got some water damage that
has been done to the slat. This is very easy to fix. This can be scraped down and sanded
and then you can repaint this. Now if there are a lot of slats that you've got to do if
it is is just some small areas you could actually sand this and touch up this paint without
having to take the blind apart. In the case if you needed to take the blind apart the
blinds are secured down here in the end and we could take a screwdriver and pull this
plug out and it would pull these two end chords which are holding your blinds together. From
that you would be able to take this center chord out and pull these through and unfeed
them from the blinds and then you would be able to take these individual slats out. Another
common problem that you have over a period of time is if you have your slats where you
are opening and closing them and you have a couple that won't do that sometimes it is
because these chords have frayed or broken. Now there are quite a few that they usually
put in here so there are quite a few that have to break before that will happen but
if it does happen you are still o'kay you don't necessarily have to replace your blind
yet. You can get some heavy duty thread particularly something like an embroidery thread and an
embroidery needle and you can simply rethread you some new connections just using an embroidery
needle and a heavy thread there. Beyond that you can run into some trouble if you are having
some trouble raising it or lowering it. You just may want to check in the top here and
make sure that you do not have any binding or any tangles where the chord wraps around
the cylinder and if you are having trouble with it staying up you want to make sure that
your locking device which is usually a pen or a serrated wheel that it is free moving.
So with that I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to fix your blind.
