In this video, we're going to build an outdoor table. It's very nice sitting out beneath
the tree listening to the birds. We're going to build the legs and we're going to build
the top. The timber we're using today is treated pine that's ideally suited for outside. We're
using the 90-mil, the 45-mil and the galvanized iron coach box, and the 10-gram and the 8-gram
screws. For our safety of course, the earmuffs, goggles, and the dust mask.
To cut, you can use either the hand saw or the electric saw. I will be using the electric
saw. We also have the square which has the angles, a pencil, of course, two clamps, a
tape measure, a set of chisels, and a hammer, a set of drills, a 9 volt cordless drill.
The first thing we need to do is to build our table top. To do that, you have to work
out how wide the table is going to be. In this case I've gone 700. On the sides here,
I've got a 150 overhang. These panels will be approximately four mil apart.
Using a chisel, I'll just place that in there in the cut. That might be nice and even all
the way up to the end. Drill a hole put a cage bolt in. Move the chisel out of there,
get your gap ready, drill a hole. Put a cage bolt in - all the way up. We've now finish
the tabletop. We're going to go on with the legs. The heart will determine the type of
angles that you'll have to cut. Just ensure that when you cut your angles that they'll
actually cut exactly the same way on each leg. I worked out my hearts now and I've cut
my angles. I've braced it to the port there and I'm going to drill the holes and put the
bolt through on both sides and then in the middle.
Now on the other side, we need the spacer. What I'm going to do now is ensure that these
two legs are exactly level. Just a flat piece of timber and using a level, we can determine
that's all correct. Now we can put the bolts in the middle. Now we finish that bolting
nose in. We do exactly the same on the other side making sure that we're level from left
to right or right to left this time as well.
There you have it, a nice outdoor table. Just bear in mind that you can have this as high
you want, as wide as you want and as long as you want. Another thing too, all your timber
requirements can be cut for you at any Bunnings warehouse by the team members in timber. A
great project for a one day sitting down in the shed, so hook in and enjoy. Good luck!
