"Hello, I'm Paul Sokol and this is the overview video for the November 2013 free campaign
of the month. This month, we are focusing on growing your newsletter base with social
sharing.
This particular campaign isn't super complex, but it is highly effective because it uses
the existing social capabilities available right out of the box.
Here is the general idea: When you send your newsletter, people have icons they can click
on to share the email on their Facebook, Twitter or Google+ feed. When one of their friends
views this shared email, not only will they see the original message, but also a targeted
web form specifically for them so they can sign up to receive their copy of the next
newsletter.
Let's work backwards and start with the social share form first, see how that works, and
then look at how it connects to the Newsletter Broadcast.
This form will only show up when someone views a shared email from any of those social channels,
so we have the copy on it targeted specifically for that type of traffic; when we view this
form next to the newsletter email in a few seconds it will make much more sense, so hang
in there with me.
Now, since this IS still a web form, when someone opts in, they will be tagged with
the Newsletter tag and receive a sign-up confirmation email.
Both the form and resulting sequence are ready to go out of the box when you install from
the Marketplace, so unless you want to give it your own flair, you don't actually have
to touch anything in this top row.
Let's see how this form works with the Newsletter Broadcast. The email can be used in two ways,
you can either use the existing layout we have provided, or you can follow these instructions
and use your own existing newsletter template.
In either case, the magic happens here in the Layout options. You can see that social
form is turned on and the social optin form is selected. When someone clicks on any of
these share links and posts to their feed, this is what their friends will see.
See how that social form makes more sense now that we are seeing it next to the email?
In general, this concept of a social share form can be used with any email and is a very
effective tactic for helping get your content out there on social channels while expanding
your contact database organically.
As with any campaign in the marketplace, all setup instructions you need to launch live
below the campaign model. Simply install the campaign, follow the instructions, and you'll
have the promotion up and running in no time!
Let me know what you think below and lets start growing our reach with social sharing."
