Today on this 2009 Chrysler Aspen we are going to install part number 87562 from Hidden Hitch.
This also applies to part number 75162 from Draw-Tite. This is what the hitch looks like
when it is installed on the vehicle. And next we will give you some measurements that will
help you out when ing some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo
carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 21 inches
on this particular vehicle. And the hitch pin hole is actually going to be 1/2 an inch
past the edge of the bumper cover. Alright, now let us go ahead and show you how this
gets installed on the vehicle. 0:32 The first thing we need to do is go ahead
and remove the spare tire. We need to have access behind the bumper. We will go ahead
and show you where the hitch mounts up on to the vehicle. It is going to mount up to
the bumper structure behind it. And basically it is going to clamp into place and we have
four holes to drill out as well. We are looking from underneath the vehicle, towards the back
of the hitch, and what is going to happen is we need to see what we need to cut out
on the bumper structure on the plastic support here, because there is a U-bolt that goes
up and over and around the bumper structure. So we have to cut out a piece of plastic,
probably a section like this, on both sides so we have room for our U-bolt. Our first
step is to go ahead and loosen up the bumper cover here because we are going to need some
additional room to drill from the outside in as well. And that will give us room to
cut the plastic support. Now we are also going to loosen up some fasteners that are behind
the rear wheels that hold
the bumper cover on
as well. 1:26
