with a big step see taken colleges choosing a major and once he led one you
don't necessarily
ashes badha like people baseball there majors for different reasons but we want
to help you actually appreciate your major and so we have some tips on how
you can do that all the way is to make yourself feel more connected to the sort
of work that you're doing
the first one is and this is very easy to do a college campus is to join a club
it's related to you major so a lot of majors exodus have like economics club
the philosophy club stuff like that and that's both a good way to be a little
bit social meet people who have a similar justin you can also
arrives there presenting lectures related to every books related to it
becca nikki feel more i think invested in your major
yeah i think one other thing too is it's not just about philly passion about your
major which is also very important
but it's also asked about understanding and knowing that it is because when
you're eighteen nineteen twenty and you have to pick something that you're gonna
do for the rest of your life that's a very overwhelming choice yeah and you
don't always know what you're getting yourself into if you haven't had to stay
diehard passion ever since you were a little kid about something that you
wanted to do and now that's actually a realistic opportunity for you which is
we've talked about in and another video
that's not the case for many people
uh... then you can pick something that you might know ok you know a little bit
about this but i don't really know
what sort of careers i can have getting out of college
and that's really important to tried to learn as much about why he still had
time to change our major yeah you could learn align passion about this but the
job placement rate is only about ten percent after college
or
actual isn't it is interesting but the jobs are inches exactly in cells so that
these are some very important things to do with some other things that you can
do exiled
read biographies of celebrities who had your major or in the case that you don't
have a very denounced are striking famously derek
of different one dash that that had your lives and how and what they went on to
deal
uh... on the edges ending also related to that is the allot of like actors
actresses and stuff like that
if you look back and they had majors at necessarily related to acting at all
like some actors started when there are forty and they have multiple careers
before then
so i can tell us what is going to call a concerned not even after a long time yet
uh...
uh... so that might not actually necessarily help anymore that's the
image in the nineteen love the more pride in your major and that's better
than nothing out
or outright along those lines again is watch violent movies are documentary
student kind again an idea what people are doing in the real world if there is
a movie asked more likely documentary movies are a little fake it's if you
don't know that
documentary following somebody who is in your you know career of choice
and simple-minded good will hunting or something
yet this is an yet if you actually look there are movies about people who work
in a lot of different fields and
him and i really like actually a sequence through children's books
and that is becoming more if you can
explain something simple e
that means that you're not understand well enough that i think that's very
true if you can't just take what you're doing and break it down to a layman's
terms explain it to somebody who has no idea what you're doing continue yourself
probably don't have a good enough understanding of that celia so i think
that's a good advice to yet and so i i would say that what you more uh... the
big thing for me as i know when i chose to switch over from the reengineering to
duplicate science
and also once i went to grad school but you can be really interested in subject
matter but not necessarily understand what it's like to have that is your
actual career yeah um... and and uh... coupled with the can't make it help you
get a better idea values they suggest we'll talk about this before visiting
your professor during office hours not to ask questions but the class but to
ask them about what it's like to for instance pia professor and that or if
you're in my god business program something like that they might be doing
teaching but they also might have a separate job on the side and so out you
can also by the way you can do a job shadow and that allows you to talk to
someone who's actually lived it you can hear the good the bad sides of it that
you you won't know just by reading text books about rankin omics or something
right uh... and i one of those lines to is gettin internship and i would say i
would encourage you to get an internship as
really as possible because that's when you get
real-world experience yeah like i know i majored obviously in journalism and i
uh... took an internship i think this summer after my junior year of college i
thought i'll decide what to do a little news
and i did
did an internship and that internship made me realize
and i hope that i uh... and ali broadcasting for a little decision in
six months
i've never wanted to be local news i was like i can do that i don't wanna do it
and a lot of those late you never know in the future you never know in the
future i can be inflicted will see blessing
they can change your end
opinions can change and i had a friend who just like diehard wanted to be a
pharmacist and luckly she took an internship at a pharmacy that she was
still in high school and she was like high literally he pharmacy
so thank goodness you know the rise of the ab i think that missing re-live that
otherwise would have gone all the way through college
got that major then got out and realized
i bethlehem so
tennyson experiences as possible
yeah so hopefully
fall so many steps and if you actually that things are major you feel a bit
more invested in it and as you alluded to earlier
doing all this research now early on do you see the time to leave it and not
band needs six years to finish
