Who am I? I guess this is like--I should do an introduction video, right? I'm an author,
I'm uh--yeah, that's pretensious--I'm a writer. I write things. I put words down on paper
and on the internet. You could read some of them at didwell.wordpress.com. But I also
write poetry. Occasionally I attempt to write fiction. I write lots of academic things,
'cause that's what ya do. I sing all the time and I whistle and I sway back and forth but
I'll try not to do that for the camera. I'm me! Um, I love to cook, I love to bake, um,
I'm an omnivore. What else? Sometimes I paint. I do a lot of art--paper cuttings. I love
to help people think about the art they are creating and the ways that we know ourselves
through art. So that's one of the things that I kind of, I guess, I like--I do--I am? I'm
a, uh, human being. I [makes noises]
--look! It's a neti pot! [laughs]
I sleep in a hammock. Um
[looks around while making faces].
I am a 29 year-old, white, cis-gendered male. I am a Christian.
I am a USAmerican citizen. I speak English. I'm a gay man. I would identify myself as
gay; sometimes I use the word ***. Um, I'm a very deeply spiritual person, so. . .
like to watch a lot of Star Trek. . . I'm what ya call [makes strange clucking noises]
So, things--okay, if you want to know me you should know that I am, in terms of Myers-Briggs
personality types, I am an INFJ. Which means I am introverted, intuitive, feeling, and
judging. I get--uh, I need, as an introvert, I need time away from people. But with that
NF combination I have extroverted feelings--meaning, I--I love being around people and I also,
I--I am very permeable in terms of, like, I can take--uh--I read other people, their
emotions and their energy and that can sometimes be exhausting. So that whole introverted thing
gets, um, sort of bigger. [laughs] I've always been really bad at math and the thing that
I was worse at was, like, showing your answers. So, like, sometimes I can look at a math problem
and just know that this is what the answer is and it's the right answer but I have no
idea how I got there. Um, and I have a really great sense of direction. Like, I'm kind of
wide open to the world, um, and that's really true of who I am as a person. I'm very wide
open--I want to be impacted by people. Um, and I think that's one of the things that
people connect with me most around. Like, they feel that that resonates and so that's
a big part of being in relationship with me as a human being. You could talk to me and
think, like, "Oh gosh, this guy is, like, this super, AAAAUUUUGGHHH--really intense
person." I have a bunny! Um, yeah, so these are some, like, things about me, um. [Sooooo
articulate!] With that being a really spiritual person, that goes along with, like, the INFJ
thing. Like, everything matters. Everything's important. That being wide open to the world,
like, I really believe in the importance of being, like, all there every moment of my
life. When I'm with somebody I try to be with them, and so, that makes technology really
difficult for me to engage with--like I feel so conflicted about, like, doing this right
now. Um, yeah, it's one of those things of like, "okay." You know, I wrestle with technology
and what does it mean to be human? These big questions--this is just, like, every day stuff
for me. It's like, these are the things that I think about when I'm riding the bus: "Oh
the humanity!" you know, I look around the bus and I'm like, "All these people are beautiful!
And they're so isolated with their headphones on and who are we becoming?!?" And I just
have to laugh at myself--hopefully you're laughing at me too. [laughs] Yeah, um, so.
What else? I am divorced. I was married to a woman. So you can see where that might not
have worked out so much with the whole being gay thing. I enjoy running. I hated running,
growing up, and then I started running a few years ago and I did my second half marathon
this past November. Um, and I love it. I-I love music, um, but I don't, like, follow
musicians or, like, "Well, like, who do you listen to?" It's like, well, I kinda listen
to whoever other people give me, like I kind of have a few people that I really trust their
opinions in music and so, like, I let them, like, feed me music. And I really like movies,
but I'm kind of a snob. And so, there's only certain people that I'll take recommendations
from. Um, I'll watch a crappy movie on Netflix but I won't--like, it takes a lot for me to
go to the theater to see a movie. Um, but this year I'm going--over the last few years
I've gone and seen several film at the Seattle International Film Festival. This year I'm
actually going to the whole festival--so I got like, a cheap, discount membership thing
while they were on sale this year and I'm doing the festival as my stay-cation. That's
exciting and I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more films in theater this year and,
yeah, so I have to, like, get over my snobbery, I guess. This video is probably really long
now. Wow. Um, so I was the kid who, growing up, would read the encyclopedia for fun. This
is your sort of whooo--quick introduction to me. OH! The other thing that you should
know is, I, um, I wear--so, my glasses! You'll see these glasses, they're purple heart wood
glasses. Um, I also have a pair of orange bamboo glasses and I have a pair of blonde
colored wood glasses. The bamboo ones I got, like, 4 years ago and, um, I love the glasses.
They're--they've worn better than any pair of metal or plastic frames I've ever had.
I just ordered the frames and got the lenses put in here in the states. And, I love my
glasses. And people always ask me about them so I figured I'd tell you. Okay. Now, for
reals, I'm gonna go. And I hope to see you soon and hear from you in the comments. Alright,
peace. [awkward] My name is Daniel, and you're watching my YouTube channel.
