In this movie, we're going to look at Dot Releases,
but first let's talk about what are Dot Releases? Basically, they are the little tiny updates
in between major releases. So, instead of like going from CS4 or CS5
it'd be 4.1, or whatever. Usually they're just bug fixes and usually
they are not all that impressive or worth getting, but in this case, there are some
major ones that Premiere has come out with. For example, in 4.0.1, Premiere added the
ability to import Final Cut Pro projects, as well as Export OMF files, and import and
export AAF files. So, some great features, and then they came
later with 4.1, which added support for R3D files, from the RED Camera, and it
can now handle those natively and browse those within the Media Browser and 4.2 added
better support for AVC-INTRA. So, as you can see, some really great additions
to Premiere, for free, with these great dot releases.
So, I recommend performing those updates and getting those features.
