On Tuesday 4 February 2014 the science guy Bill Nye debate the Christian creationism apologist Ken Ham at Creation Museum in petersburg, united states.
So in this vieo I will try to make a quick review at most the points that were raised in the debate in the light of Islamic creed and philosophy.
Starting with Bill Nye argument; unfortunately it was exclusively based on 2 point concerning the biblical creation view!
Firstly; the 6000 years old earth! And secondly; the 4000 years ago global noah flood
In fact both these arguments have nothing to do with Islam at all
Firstly; No Muslim in the world believes in the young earth creationism including Muslim creationists like Adnan Oktar who is referred as Old Earth creationist
as there is no single reference in Muslim sources; Quran or Hadith that refer to such idea
In contrast to the bible, the Quran doesn't give a detailed Genealogy from Adam to us, and doesn't say at all that Adam was created Once the earth was created
Secondly; Concerning Noah flood covered all the earth just 4000 years ago, In contrast to the bible which say that the flood covered all the earth and left no single creature as in Genesis 6:17 and Genesis 7:21-23
In contrast to the bible, The Quran confirms it is impossible that Noah flood covered and destroyed all the earth for many reasons;
Firstly; The Quran says that Noah was sent only to his people as in Chapter Noah 71-1
Therefore the warning was to the people of Noah only and not to the whole world therefore the punishment was to his people only and not the whole world
as it is mentioned also in the Quran; Surat Al-'Isra' [17:15]
that God doesn't punish any nation but only after a Messenger is sent to them
Furthermore, the Quran says that; after the end of the flood there was so many nations outside Noah's nation as it is mentioned in; Surat Hud [11:48]
that there was noah's nation and many other nations
Another point was raised by bill nye was about the shape of the ark as while the bible describe it as an ark with Rectangular shape its length six times its width,
and made totally of wood as it is mentioned in Genesis 6, Which makes it easily sink
In contrast to the bible, The Quran confirms that it was a ship not an ark, and doesn't give any description to it's size,
and mentions also that it was made from both wood and nails
that is why the famous medical doctor and egyptologist Maurice Bucaille said in his conclusion concerning this matter:
the narration contained in the Qur'an is free from anything which might give rise to objective criticism
One might ask if it is possible that, between the time of the Biblical narration and the one contained in the Qur'an, man could have acquired knowledge that shed light on this event. The answer is no,
because from the time of the Old Testament to the Qur'an, the only document man possessed on this ancient story was the Bible itself.
If human factors are unable to account for the changes in the narrations which affected their meaning with regard to modern knowledge, another explanation has to be accepted, i.e. a Revelation which came after the one contained in the Bible.
