The Bible, Economics, and the Jarvis display from Iron Man... sounds like its gonna be
a pretty sick video.
When you are trying to find the value of an object or a product, you do a lot of economic
analysis using a Supply and Demand graph. A business calculate the number of people
that are willing to buy an object at a certain price, and how much it will cost to make that
many items. Then they run all the numbers and find what they call the market equilibrium
which tells them the going rate, value, and price for the product.
And right now you are probably like, 'What in the world does this have to do with the
Bible?' Don't worry I am getting there in just a second.
But the rules all change when there is only one, unique, individual item for sale. The
market value is then determined by whoever is willing to pay the highest price for it.
Take Instagram for example. They wanted to sell their company, so they had all these
other businesses coming to them, offering to buy them out... essentially telling them
how much they thought Instagram was worth.
All kinds of offers were coming in, untill Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook came along and
said, "We want to buy you for 1 Billion Dollars". And instantley the market value of Instagram
became a Billion Dollars.
Aight this is all good and nerdy but how does this apply to my life? Well lets see what
the Bible says about this... the Bible says that you were bought at a price.
So a Christian does apparently have a market value so to speak.
But how is that determined? Is it determined by what our friends say about us? By what
our teachers say about us?
Is it determined by how much we value ourselves?... Because if that were the case, a lot of the
times it would be in the negatives when we feel down on ourselves about messing up, or
slipping in certain areas of our lives.
But the good news is that your value is not determined by you, and it is not determined
by your boss, or even by your parents. Because Jesus came along, and said, 'Oh no! I want
to buy him... She is worth it to me... And I am going to pay with my very own blood.'
And all of a sudden, your worth is not determined by this world, your value, is determined by
God himself... and he paid everything for you.
Technology right?
