In this video, you'll see how to modify a report in the web browser view,
and how to add it to your dashboard.
Let's say your Vice President of North American Sales has asked to see
a report of the revenue trend for the U.S. by state,
to get a better picture of the team's performance.
First, find the general revenue trend report.
You can open this report in several ways.
For more information, there's a video on using the Quick Filter.
For now, let's open this report with the web browser view for the most options.
In this report, the revenue is the key figure, which is a quantity.
The quarter is the characteristic, and is categorical data.
To create a report on the U.S. revenue trend for the last four quarters,
you have to add fields to the selection area.
Here, you can select or filter data.
The selection is simply a filter that you can save.
Let's add the country and quarter/ calendar year so that you can select on these characteristics.
Now, add the quarter and calendar year.
Now you can choose to view data only from the United States.
You can also select data from the last four quarters.
Instead of equal, you can use between.
Choose a start date
and an end date.
Choose Go to view your selections. This will be a subset of your previous data.
Instead of looking at the revenue by quarter, let's look at the revenue by state.
Drag Quarter/Calendar Year and drop it to the Not Currently Shown area.
Now drag State to Rows.
You can sort the states by revenue to make it easier to view.
You can change this figure to a table
and then add more characteristics, like city and sales rep.
For more information, you can also add another key figure,
like number of deals.
To view data in a more structured way, arrange the table as a hierarchy.
Now you can drill down to see the cities where you won deals in Minnesota,
and to see which sales reps are in St. Paul.
Let's save our work.
Since we have changed key figures and characteristics, we'll save this as a new report.
We'll also save the selection, which is the subset of data from the U.S. from the last four quarters.
Set the selection as the default to see the selected data when you first open the report.
Save all dates relatively so that this selection is always data from the last four quarters.
To make this report easy to access again, let's add it to one of our dashboards.
Navigate to where you want to add the report.
Personalize this screen and find the report you just saved.
Drag and drop the report to the desired location.
Make sure to save your changes.
Let's review a few key points.
Use the web browser view for the most options when making modifications to a report.
Add fields, as needed, to filter to the information you need,
and change characteristics and key figures to further tailor a report.
Structure your data as a hierarchy to view it efficiently.
Finally, you can easily access your new report by adding it to your dashboard.
