Do you work in the food service industry in California? Are you looking to get your
Food Handler Card, which is required by law, but not sure what to do next?
I'm here to help you understand the California Food Handler Law
and how you can get certified.
According to the law, food service employees must obtain the California Food Handler Card
from an approved provider within thirty days of
their new hire date and renew every three years.
It is very important that you obtain your Food Handler Card from an ANSI-accredited
training
provider in order for the card to be valid. Make sure to look for the approved ANSI logo
from the training organization. By the way, Premier Food Safety was the first
California-based company to receive this ANSI accreditation. Approved online and
classroom training options are available in different languages.
Online training is usually more convenient, as you can take the training at your own pace,
and immediately print out your card after completing the training program.
Food Handlers in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego are exempt from
this law, as they have their own food handler requirements.
You can get your California Food Handler Card in three easy steps:
First, register for the online course. Second, take the training and pass the online
exam.
And third, print out your Food Handler Card.
