Hi I'm Michelle and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. We are going to learn how
to knit a scarf for beginners and while we are doing that we also go over some basic
tips that you need to know to get started in knitting. As we said earlier with a simple
knit and pearl stitch two basics and only stitches that we are going to learn while
we are knitting. We can make any kind of different pattern that we want that will alter the appearance
of our final product. The first stitch we are going to learn is garter stitch. Now there
is two excellent reasons for learning garter stitch while we are making our scarf. The
first is the garter is very easy stitch for a beginner to learn. All we have to do is
continue to knit through every row. Another good reason to learn garter stitch first is
because unlike some other stitches it will not row in on itself. But it will stay flat
and it would leave us a nice beautiful pattern for our scarf. In fact a lot of the scarf
that I make are simple garter stitch scarf. Okay here we are with only four stitches left
in our needle in our left hand. We are almost at the end of our row. We would knit the last
four stitches and then you can see that the difference that we have now then when we started
is that the needle in our left hand has zero stitches on it. While all the needle on our
right hand. To continue we simply would switch hands. Because we are doing garter stitch
we are going to just began the extra row by knitting again and we can proceed that way
until our scarf is the length that we want it to be. Simply continue knitting, changing
rows by switching the needles from one hand to another. Then begin again and you can see
that this leaves us a very flat laying and very attractive appearance to our scarf.
