Dr. Lisa Discusses the New Hepatitis C Guidelines.\par Nurse Trish: Dr. Lisa, can you tell me about
Hepatitis C?\par Dr. Lisa: Sure, the CDC recently came out
with new guidelines regarding Hepatitis C screening. It used to be that we knew people
were at risk if they used IV drugs, even if it was just one time, if they had an unsterile
tattoo or piercing, if they had a blood transfusion prior to the early 1990\rquote s. But there
has been some new research that tells us that even without any of those other risk factors,
anyone born between 1945 and 1965 might be at risk for Hepatitis C. So, the new guidelines
for the CDC say that if you were born between 1945 and 1965, you should get screened for
Hepatitis C at least once.\par \lang9\f1\fs22\par
