The oppressed in Karbala
The philosophy of uprising and honour of Karbala
An overview
The commemoration and remembrance of Imam Hussein
has a special place in the lives of lovers of Ahlulbayt.
Every year before Muharram arrives, the preparation of Azadari starts.
In the life of an azadar karbala has a very large impact.
Remembering Imam Hussain’s sacrifice naturally brings one to think about
the reasons that forced our Imam towards such an event.
Imam Hussain(AS) and his uprising
When one sees the events from a historical perspective,
we can see that as oppose to Imam Hasan his elder brother,
Imam Hussain choose the path of uprising.
The question that then arises is;
why Imam Hussain could not opt for peace like Imam Hassan
and why did he leave Medina with his entire family and travelled to Karbala.
In the historical frame,
From what Muwaiya did and then following which what Yazeed did,
it was ultimately every single being’s responsibility to raise against them.
One may say If Muwaiya did some things Imam Hassan was there as well,
why he did not choose to raise against him
when a large part of his life was spent in the time of Muwaiya.
What is the reason that he does not choose to rise in these 10 years,
which is the time period of his Imamate.
Imam Hassan’s Shahadat is in 50Hijra
and the event of Karbala took place in the beginnings of 61 Hijra.
These 10 years of Imam Hussain were spent in Muwaiya’s time.
To understand this one needs to look at two things.
First we should look at the things done by Muwaiya
and then we should look at what changes did Yazeed made to these.
Was there any difference?
