This is Governor Steve Beshear ... About Kentucky
Since December of 2005, the Commonwealth has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the
2010 World Equestrian Games. On September 25th, following more than four years of hard
work, planning and preparation, Jane and I proudly participated in the Opening Ceremony
that officially welcomed the world to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at
the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Kentucky is the first place outside of Europe to host these prestigious international games,
which will attract visitors from all 50 states and more than 60 nations to the Commonwealth
for the 16 days of equestrian competition. Coverage of the Games is being broadcast to
a world-wide viewing audience of approximately 500 million people for 6 ½ hours on NBC Sports,
an unprecedented commitment of network coverage to equestrian sport in U.S. television history.
The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $167 million, and current
sponsors include Alltech, Fifth Third Bank, Rolex, John Deere, Ariat International, Inc.,
Meydan, UK Healthcare and Kentucky Ale.
I encourage all Kentuckians to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to
experience an incredible, international event. Grounds Pass tickets are only $25 and offer
a family-friendly, affordable way to experience the Games. Children 12 and under admitted
free when accompanied by a paying adult.
In addition to viewing the world championships, all event tickets allow spectators to experience
world-class food, shopping, music, the Equine Village, with world-renowned equine exhibitors,
clinicians and demonstrations and the exciting, family-friendly EquiMania, as well as the
Kentucky Experience Tourism exhibit and the Alltech Experience Pavilion.
