How long have you been coming to this Festival?
Actually this is the first year. Honestly. We just moved back here from Thailand.
So we didn’t even know about it until this year.
So, how does the Songkran Festival compare to the actual Songkran Festival in Thailand?
Well. I don’t think it’s fair to compare. But, it’s very nice here. It’s a different thing.
We’re a lot drier.
We’re now here at the most important part of the Festival
– the food booths!
The Thai New Year Songkran Festival would be nearly empty
without all these hundreds of food booths set along the
mile-long Hollywood Boulevard.
So let’s go check out what the people have to say are their favorite dishes.
We do better than last year.
How long does it take to prepare all this food?
About, at least, one day.
Do you guys have a restaurant?
No, it’s just for fun for me.
Just for fun? Do you do it every year?
Ah, no. This is my first year.
And what do you think? What about this crazy wind?
It makes it more fun.
Why is your chicken the best?
We do it for over 30 years.
Ah-ohhh.
This is really good!
Is this your first time at the Fair?
Yes it is.
What do you think?
It’s great. Feels really good. I love it.
And so far, out of everything you’ve seen, what has been your favorite?
Ummm, the food. Yeah. The food. Definitely.
And any desserts in the works?
Ah, no. We haven’t got there yet. But we’ll be hitting there shortly.
So do you think we’ll see you guys here next year?
Definitely. Yup. Definitely be here. I’m enjoying it.
The one place you can always find packed here at the Songkran Festival is
the Singha Beer Garden of course. You can hear the loud music. Good vibe.
Lots of people and of course an unlimited supply of Singha Beer. Let’s go check it out.
Have you guys had the chance to see the pageant or the Muay Thai fights.
Yeah, it was really, really cool. Like, all the outfits and costumes.
And what has to be your favorite part of this Festival?
Um, probably here! That’s why we’re hanging out here.
Have you tried any of the amazing food? Yeah.
We did have a couple. We had some BBQ. Papaya Salad. Sticky Rice and Mango.
What is your favorite part of the Festival altogether?
Uh… Singha!
Have you guys tried any of the food?
We’re going to do that next. The plan is to get really drunk. And then try
the food. The Pad Thai I had was really amazing. The satay. The Tom Kha *** soup.
It’s like a coconut soup. Amazing.
All this beer, Singha, it’s a fight. I’m going to Thailand. On everything. I’m going to Thailand.
What’s the best part of this whole Festival?
The beer!
Happy New Year!
The Singha Beer Garden, located in this designated outdoor plaza on
its own attracts hundreds of people to join in on the festivities.
Inside of the Beer Garden, as you can see, has its own entertainment,
socializing area and of course, cold, refreshing Singha Beer for all.
Singha Beer is one of the main sponsors of the Thai New Year Songkran Festival.
and provides thousands of dollars in cash, prizes, and drinks.
What’s the best part of the Songkran Festival?
The food! And the beer! The food and the beer.
OK, what’s your favorite dish out of all the food?
The… Beef and Thai noodles. Yeah, that sounds good.
What’s your favorite part?
The Beer Garden!
How did you hear about it?
Cause I’m a Muay Thai guy. Muay Thai, that’s what we do!
Muay Thai – do you have any friends fighting? Are you fighting?
We do have some friends fighting, but I’m busy doing this.
What’s one dish that you would recommend to someone who’s never been here before?
Larb.
What’s that?
It’s minced chicken or beef salad. A lot of herbs. Really good.
Uh, yes. The Taste of Thai was good. Yeah. I’ll be back. For sure.
What’s your favorite dish that you’ve tried here?
I think the BBQ chicken.
My favorite part is being able to see the Thai culture. Hanging out.
Listening to the DJ. That’s so fun.
Happy Thai New Year. Happy Thai New Year! We’ll see you guys soon!
