Hi, this is Joelle Meijer.
I will show you how to create a beautiful bouquet of hearts for Valentine's Day!
You will mainly need a container or a cup, play dough,
paper with a Valentine's Day theme and straws.
Take a cup or another container.
Paint the selected container in a colour of your choice.
In keeping with the theme of Valentine's Day, I chose to use pink to paint the cup.
If necessary, put several coats of paint to cover the cup completely.
When the paint is dry, you can decorate the cup. In this example,
I have drawn a heart with white glue and then I poured glitter over it.
I also added dots of glue and glitter on the edge of the cup.
Prepare some play dough, and add pink dye to the dough.
You can find the video with the play dough recipe on the Animaplates web site.
Fill the container or cup with the pink or red play dough.
Set the cup with play dough aside.
Prepare construction paper with colours or patterns that go with Valentine's Day.
Draw several sizes of hearts or use the patterns in the free document.
Each time, cut two hearts of the same size and the same color.
The idea of this project is to make a bouquet of hearts of different sizes,
where each heart contains a message of love or a small chocolate treat or a candy.
To be more efficient, fold the construction paper in half.
Next, draw the pattern of a heart and cut the two layers of construction paper.
Work with one pair of hearts at a time.
Take the first pair of hearts and place them with the nice side down.
Put white glue only from the sides of the heart to the point.
You may have noticed that I didn't put any glue on the top part of the heart.
Place one end of the straw on the point of the heart and roll it in the glue.
Then, superimpose the two hearts on top of each other
with the nice side of the paper on the outside
and with one end of the straw trapped between the two points of the heart.
If you want, keep the hearts in place with clothespins for a few minutes.
Proceed the same way with the other hearts of your bouquet.
When all the hearts are ready, cut the straws at different heights.
The hearts are the flowers for your bouquet and the straws are the stems.
Take the stems with the hearts and plant them in the pot with play dough
that you prepared at the beginning of the activity.
Write little love messages that you fold and slide in the smaller hearts.
In the larger hearts, you may be able to slip a little chocolate
or a candy to give to your Valentine! To slip a candy or a chocolate in the heart,
press on the sides of the heart. That will help to open it.
