Here is the final mix, un-mastered of the track called “Jaipur”. There’s enough
to look at here to approach as a none vocal track. It wasn’t that snare, it was a different
snare, but it just felt a little bit too two dimensional. It felt a little tinny to me.
And once the drums sound this thin there’s nothing, even re-amping, even sort of heavy
EQing, vintage EQing, you’re never really going to get that meaty sound back. So this
was the harmonium that I layered. I love analog gear and I’m fine with plug-ins too. For
me, it’s basically the marriage of using whatever is at my fingertips to get the sound
that I’m hearing. You really have to avoid weak links from the inception.
