Hello everyone, and welcome to Microsoft Windows 7, Essential to Advance Video Training Series.
Before we get started, let’s take a look that how many editions of Microsoft Windows
7 are available in the market. There are mainly six editions of Windows 7 that have been published
by Microsoft.
Windows 7 Starter Edition, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, the Enterprise
edition and Windows 7 Ultimate.
You may have a question in your mind that why there are so many versions of Windows
7?
Let's take a look at this chart. As you are looking, each version is supporting different
features, that are available in Windows 7 and also they do support different hardware
as well.
For example, Windows Starter Edition can support up to 2GB of RAM and can only be install on
32-Bit processor architecture. Neither the Starter Edition has the DVD Playback facility
nor does it support the Windows Aero feature.
You cannot use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and IIS (Internet Information Server). The
Bit Locker, Encrypted File System, Brache Cache and App Locker are also not available
in Windows Starter Edition. You cannot even join a Domain or Server.
Then why someone will purchase Windows 7 Starter Edition. I give you an example for this. For
instance, you are using your computer only for Internet purpose like sending and receiving
emails only and you don't need any of those features. Then you will consider purchasing
Windows Starter Edition because of its low cost.
Each version of Windows has been design by Microsoft by taking user requirements and
budgets in the mind. So, if you want the DVD Playback feature along with Window Aero feature
and you have a notebook with 4GB of memory installed then you probably will be purchasing
Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
Our Video series has been fully designed on Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate edition which
is a full featured Windows. Certainly, that doesn’t means that you will not be able
to complete the task that you are going to learn in all of our tutorials. You can continue
your learning even if you have any other version of Windows 7 on your PC.
Keep in mind that we are going through basic steps to advance level and the basic always
remain the same in all the programs. However, if there will be any task that a user may
not be able to accomplish on lower version of Windows 7 or there is a different way to
do the same task then it will be clearly mention in our video.
Let’s see, what you need before we go through our video series. There are only two basic
requirements. Your PC has any version of Windows 7 installed and you have least knowledge of
working with keyboard and mouse.
So let’s open the door and go through Windows 7. That was just an introductory video. My
