The following is an excerpt of a recent Power Up Webinar taking a look at
third party plugins
for Final Cut Pro 10
Our next plugin is called 3d perspective. It's published by FCP Effects. It's a
$39 plugin that creates a 3d perspective on
2d images. It works with video and stills and
you can use it to add the illusion of depth of field,
you can animate it using keyframes. Let me show you how it works.
For instance, here, take a look at this.
It swings back, it blurs and we see this growing star
behind it. Well there's a variety of things that we're doing with this effect.
Let me show you how it works. Let's just use the down arrow key
select it and we go to effects
and we scroll down until we find
My FCP Effects. We're gonna drag on the 3d perspective plugin to the
upper clip cuz that's always on the top layer. There's four on-screen controls,
there's actually 7 of them
well actually 8. If I grab this
ring and drag up and down, I can change the horizontal position of the clip
If I grab this ring and drag up and down, I change the vertical position of the clip
and if I grab this ring and drag up and down, I change its
point of view relative to the camera, closer or farther away.
This allows me to set the blur. This is the blurriest part.
This is the least blurry part and if I select the clip and go up to the
inspector I can reset everything by clicking the whole kiero
so let's do something interesting. I've set some markers here
let's move to the first marker and this is where I want to have
our key frame for the global exposition cuz its gonna shift slightly from side
to side
we're gonna have it rotate on the y-axis. By the way, rotation
is this ring right here. This rotates
on the X, this rotates on the Y and the reason it doesn't rotate is cuz I gotta
keyframe there which locks it so take the key frame off. This is the Y rotation
and this is Z rotation.
Alright, let's go back here.
Let's click the reset button set a position for the
X on the marker we'll set Y rotation we'll set a keyframe
and we're also gonna adjust the amount of blur. It's gonna start not
blurry and get blurry
Then let's move to our second marker so far we see that
all it is is just this star thing that's just sitting there, it's not moving.
We'll move to the second marker go back up and this time
we will adjust our exposition.
Let's see, let's adjust the rotation first. So we'll click, hold, and drag
assume it's just a rotation for so we're clear cold and drag
dramatic look back and now I've got this black edge coming in so I'm going to
slide that over here in the black edge. Good.
and now let's increase the blur amount. Notice the whole picture is in focus.
Let's add some blur, right about there.
I want the blurriness to start there. I want the blurriness to end right about there
make it just a bit blurrier here.
The amount of blur-itude is important here to give us the look that we want
and now let's play this back and there's the blur on the end
Wait a minute, wait a minute. This sun's going the wrong way.
Click our background, go up to the Smurf on a headset, go down to
reverse run the clip from back to front. There we go.
and it moves toward us.
Some, you know, we're looking inside the hidden door to realize the danger that,
make up your own story. Really cool. The plugin is called 3d perspective
from FCP Effects. This has been an excerpt of a recent Power Up webinar taking a
