Italian in Italy - To learn Italian with an Italian in Italy
Hello again. We are still at the Polyglot Gathering, the last night and I have with me another interesting
person who I have met at this conference. Can you tell us who you are and what you do? Yes,
my name is Santiago and I was born in Colombia, but in fact, I live in Madrid and I am a teacher of
English. Ok. And, Santiago, why have you come here to the Polyglot Gathering? Um, because I
found it on the internet and did not know that there was this. And I was excited because I thought at
the opportunity to meet people who are like me. So I
decided to come. Ok. And from this experience will you take home something or more than one thing?
A lot of things, a lot of new friends. And a lot of friends with whom I can talk
about what really interests me, that is the methods, how we learn languages, the way
we do. It 'was very interesting fact because I even discovered other things that I didn't
know Ok. And you, how do you usually learn languages? I listen. I listen a lot. I do not
have time because in fact I work a lot and after work I am very tired, so
I can not sit down with a book to learn. I'm on the train, for example, and I listen,
listen, listen. You do not use books and you listen. I Use books, but books that always come with a cd or
something to listen to. Reading is not my priority, for example, because I am tired
and so I can't do it. And if you were to give advice to those who want to get near
this world, how do you suggest that they learn languages? I think one of the
the most important things would be to make the effort every day, every day. So perseverance.
That's it. A little a day every day. Perseverance: don't do five hours a day
and then you don't to touch or don't listen to anything for one month. In my opinion it is better to do ten
minutes a day and after... Also progress is a bit 'slow because you can not see it well.
Ok, so you can't perceive well but at least there's the perseverance and ... You see well in a while
In a bit of time. You take a small step a day and slowly you reach... That's it.
Yes. And listen every day. Always listen. So, thank you so much Santiago for
these tips. You're welcome. For your presence here. You are welcome. And bye everyone. Bye. Bye.
