Hello and welcome again this Saturday.
Today we will continue with the verbs and their formation in the future and the past.
After seeing Type A verbs in a previous lesson today, we will see now Type B verbs.
Type B verbs are those that have as ending -αω and the accent mark is at the ending and not at the stem of the verb.
I have to mention at this point that we are now looking at regular verbs and not irregular.
There are many irregular verbs in Greek that do not follow these rules and the only solution is to memorize them.
Let's start with type B verbs. These verbs again have three possible endings in the future.
These are -ήσω, -άσω και -έσω. For example, αγαπώ - θα αγαπήσω, γελώ - θα γελάσω, καλώ - θα καλέσω.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know which ones are turned into -εσω, -άσω, -ήσω.
The positive thing is that most of these verbs are converted into -ήσω.
So, I recommend that you know that all verbs of type B are converted into -ήσω and all the rest,
whenever you meet them, memorize them as irregular.
This way you will learn them.
As for the past, you do exactly the same procedure as in the type A verbs.
Put an -α at the end and move the accent mark one syllable back.
For example, θα αγαπήσω - αγάπησα, θα γελάσω - γέλασα - θα καλέσω - κάλεσα.
I think Type B verbs are not complex and you can memorize them very easily.
To close this topic, we must look at the endings of these verbs.
The verbs of type A and B in the future have the same endings and are for all regular verbs the same.
For example, θα πληρώσω, θα πληρώσεις, θα πληρώσει, θα πληρώσουμε, θα πληρώσετε, θα πληρώσουν.
While in the past the endings are again for all the verbs the same and are as follow: πλήρωσα, πλήρωσες, πλήρωσε, πληρώσαμε, πληρώσατε, πλήρωσαν.
That's all for today, thank you very much and see you next week with a different lesson. Bye.
