Hi, my name's Lee Perkins. I'm a physical therapist and founder of HandsOnRemedy.com.
Today I'm going to talk about Prepatellar Bursitis and why you should consider physical
therapy as your first option in the healing process. Prepatellar Bursitis, also known
as Carpet Layer's Knee or Housemaid's Knee, occurs when the bursa sac directly on the
front of the knee gets stressed and inflamed. This injury most often occurs from repetitive
kneeling, when you are putting pressure directly onto the knee cap. When the bursa inflames,
you will feel warmth on the front of the knee and notice a pocket of fluid that can range
from minor to severe. Prepatellar Bursitis can be very painful making it challenging
to perform activities during your day; like kneeling on the floor, going up and down stairs
and even walking can be difficult. With early Physical Therapy treatment, you
can maximize your function quickly and cost effectively. On the first visit, your Physical
Therapist will perform differential diagnostic testing to determine your exact condition.
You should then expect a hands-on treatment incorporating specialized techniques to help
get the results you need. Your therapist will also provide a home exercise program specific
to your injury and the training to perform those exercises correctly. Our goal as therapists
is the same as yours; heal quickly and heal permanently. The information you see on our
website and this video should NOT be used to determine your own condition. You should
seek medical advice from a qualified professional first. Find your Physical Therapist now at
HandsOnRemedy.com, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
